We are told to believe that it’s not that bad. We are to accept it and support him; “why would you want him to fail, that means you want the country to fail!” We are told to “suck it up, snowflake. Your liberal bullshit lost.”
Guess what. That’s not happening with this “snowflake” nor with many of my progressive friends. Millions of snowflakes can cause an avalanche.
Trump is Not My President
As my friend Chris said to me after the election, “If you’re not angry about something, you’re not truly invested.” I added, “Apparently, it’s not cool to be positive…look at his supporters.”
Their white angst and sadness that they are no longer the majority in this country has brought us to this point.
I have great respect for the Office of the President of the United States. I was too young to remember Ford and Carter. My first exposure to a President was an actor…quite apropos with what we have now, actually. I didn’t realize at the time how much Ronald Reagan was destroying the country during the 8 years he forgot he was President. But he sure could read a Peggy Noonan speech like a pro and he was photogenic on TV and could command an audience. He was an actor. It was his job. Reagan began the “actor” politician ideal that has brought us so many: Bill Clinton, Barack Obama. At least they had substance unlike the “Cheeto in Chief”.
I was able to first vote for President in 1992. I didn’t vote for Clinton. Shocking, huh? I thought it would be cool to vote for the third-party candidate at the time, Ross Perot. I was 18 and dumb…like the Bernie Bros. were in 2016.
Third parties weren’t the real issue this time. Russian connections to our illegitimate President were. And now we have a celebrity TV star who made his money (after getting millions from his father) on the backs of others.
We begin this next stage of the experiment that is the USA with a “President” whose conflicts of interests are unconstitutional.
“The president is not our teacher, our tutor, our guide or ruler. He does not command us, we command him. We serve neither him nor his vision.” This is Mike Pence in 2010. We need to remind him of this EVERYDAY.
We must fight.
We will fight.
Trump isn’t our President.
